Giving Back

I like giving back.  Research shows that the pleasure centers of the brain that go off during sex also go off when you give service.  Well I'm studying right now to take the GMAT.  I am not good at it and haven't been the most motivated to be honest.  I mean I am going to class and working on the homework when it is assigned, but I haven't really been getting down to business like I know I can, i.e. finding and working on the problem areas I have.

Well last night I went to class and the teacher assigned as homework a 10-15 minute session on freerice.com.  It is a website that has computer adapted questions.  So if you get one right it gives you a harder one to work on and if you get it wrong it gives you an easier one to work on.  Well.  Little do I know that for each question you get right they donate 10 grains of rice to the hungry around the world.  There are over 1 million people playing on this site.  They've donated over 1 billion grains of rice so far.  Yes that right.  1 BILLION.  Its cool cause they have a bowl off to the side that has grains of rice in it for the ones you get right.  So far I'm up to 280 grains donated = 28 correct answers.

I just had to share this cause I enjoy the giving that is going on.  I also go and drive food around from our local foodbank once a month and like helping people with that.  Some people are aware of kiva.org and I feel that this website is similiar in the amazing positive impact it can have others instead of all those stupid farmville and facebook games out there that don't do anything for people in need.  Anywho go check it out and donate some rice!

P.S. The LDS church needs to do something similiar with their indexing effort.  I could get on board with that if they had a fun way, other than eternal salvation of course :), for tracking the progress being made.
